I will do 20 chin-ups this summer

I am a 25-year old woman. I have never really been the sporty type, but I have always wanted to have physical strenght. I have never been overweighted, and I have kept myself in relatively OK shape, by outdooractivities like walking, jogging, hunting, swimming etc.

Last spring I had my first child, and from this year´s (2009) beginning I started some training, because I felt really weak. I had a pull-up bar, so I desided to put it up. I couldn´t do one pull-up or chin-up! But I was very settled on managing the exercise. I started doing negative chin-ups, combined with other bodyexercises (back, shoulders, arms, legs etc.). After 2 months I felt that I was getting closer, but I couldn´t get myself up from hanging with straight arms. Then one day I did it, but it didn´t work everytime. I filmed myself when I managed to do it, and then I saw that I was jumping up to get in to startposition, an I discovered that this was helping. In the beginning I allso lifted my knees to get up, but it didn´t take long to succeed with my legs hanging. I still lift my knees when I´m dooing the last (max)chin-up, which is now at challangeday 1: 5, so I have many left! I did the day 1-exercise, but I´m doing this challenge with chin-ups (palms facing me). I can allso do 2 pull-ups (overhand-grip), but I choose the easier, more biceps-using form: chins.

I believe that this 20-challange can give me som extra will and mental strenght to develope my chin-up capasity!
